Coral South is the first project in the development of the considerable gas resources discovered in Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin. The Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) unit, a symbol of engineering expertise, will have a capacity of around 3.4 MTPA (million tons per year) and will be the first FLNG in Africa and only the third globally.

Coral South Development Project is located in the deep waters of the Rovuma Basin,
which straddles Mozambique’s Northern border with Tanzania.

The FLNG facility will be a turret moored double-hull floating vessel, on which gas receiving,
processing, liquefaction, and offloading facilities will be mounted together with LNG and
condensate storage.

MACOGA has successfully designed, manufactured, tested and shipped for this project several high-tech Expansion Joints built with Hastelloy C276 UNS N10276 bellows and UNS S32760 F55 – Super Duplex Stainless Steel flanges.

These Expansion Joints undergo a comprehensive quality control and testing programme including:
— Advanced Review of Calculations
— Check Material and welding consumables certificates
— Review and update WPS, PQR and WQR
— Review NDE Procedures & Operator Qualification
— RT- Radiographic Examination
— PT - Liquid Penetrant Examination
— Pressure & Leak Detection Test
— PMI - Positive Material Identification
— Check Packing & Marking
