Critical FCC Clamshell installation at major UK Refinery

This time our team has successfully completed the installation of a same-size Alloy 625 Clamshell Expansion Joint at the FCC Unit of a major UK refinery.

This critical intervention was carried out on-site by our highly skilled field team, who demonstrated exceptional precision, coordination, and commitment under challenging conditions. Their outstanding performance ensured the flawless integration of the new component and minimized disruption to the plant’s operation.

The installed expansion joint was designed in accordance with EJMA and ASME VIII Div.1 standards, using Alloy 625 Gr.1 (UNS N06625) for the bellows. 

Same-Size Clamshell Installation:

The pipeline was shut down to allow for the installation of a same-size clamshell, where the existing bellows was removed and discarded. This approach enabled installation without altering the original pipe diameter, ensuring a perfect match and fit.
