Expansion Joints for Major Power Plant Conversion Project in the United States
On this occasion we have successfully completed the fabrication of the Expansion Joints for a large-scale order supporting the replacement of one of the United States’ most iconic coal-fired power plants with a modern combined cycle gas-fired facility. This landmark project involves decommissioning the historic 1.5-GW plant, once the world’s largest coal-fired power station when it began operating, and replacing it with a next-generation, equal-capacity power plant capable of burning up to 5% hydrogen, coupled with 100 MW of battery storage.
This project involved the fabrication and supply of a significant quantity of expansion joints in a wide range of designs and sizes, including Dogbone units (6,870 mm), Universal Tied types (3,200 mm and 2,870 mm), Hinged types (3,200 mm and 2,870 mm), and Untied Single units in several large dimensions.
These expansion joints have been engineered and manufactured to the highest standards to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation under demanding service conditions.
