FCC Hinged Expansion Joint for European Refinery
This week we have completed the successful manufacturing and shipment of a DN-1400 Hinged Expansion Joint designed for demanding FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) service for refinery located in the south of Europe.
This highly engineered unit has been specifically developed to operate under extreme temperature and process conditions, ensuring reliability and long service life in one of the most critical areas of refinery operation.
Key technical highlights:
- Design Code: EJMA (11th Edition)
- Design Pressure: 4.10 barg / Test Pressure: 4.51 barg
- Fluid: Catalyst / Flue Gas
- Process Medium: up to +749°C
- Bellows Temperature: up to +538°C
- Pipe Design Temperature: up to +343°C
These conditions make it suitable for severe FCC environments, where thermal stresses and material resistance are critical.
To ensure performance and durability, high-grade materials have been used throughout like bellows in Alloy 625 (SB-443 N06625/N06626 Gr.1) with excellent high-temperature and corrosion resistance, internal components & liners in Stainless steels 304H / 316L / 310S and a high-performance refractory and abrasion-resistant system (RESCO).
This combination ensures mechanical strength, oxidation resistance, and long fatigue life under cyclic operation.
The unit incorporates internal insulation, refractory lining, and abrasion protection, essential for handling catalyst particles and high-velocity flue gases.
