FCC In-line Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint for a major Refinery in Europe

FCC In-line Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint for a major Refinery in Europe

We have just completed the design, manufacture and successful testing of a state-of-the-art In-line Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint for the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) unit of a leading refinery in Europe.

Main features of the Expansion Joint supplied:

  • Type: In-Line Pressure Balanced
  • Design Code: EJMA standards
  • Nominal diameter: DN 700
  • Design pressure: 6.18 barg
  • Test pressure: 6.80 barg
  • Bellows operating temperatures: 482 ºC
  • Pipe temperature: 552 ºC
  • 2-ply testable bellows
  • Internal refractory lining (Rescocast 17EC and Resco R-MAX MP)
  • Ceramic fiber insulation
  • High-grade alloy components: SA-387 Gr.11 Cl.2, SA-516 Gr.70, and SA-240 stainless steels (304H, 316, 321)

The expansion joint was subjected to a full range of NDE tests (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT, pneumatic leak detection and interply tests) as well as post weld heat treatment (PWHT) according to ASME B31.3. All tests were successfully completed, confirming the outstanding quality and reliability of the equipment.

With this achievement, MACOGA reaffirms its position as the global leader in FCC Expansion Joints, delivering tailor-made and complex solutions for the most demanding service conditions worldwide.
