MACOGA Pipe Expansion Joints for Lusail Bridges in Qatar.

The Expansion Joints, most of them made in EPDM approved for potable water, are designed with 2, 3 and 4 arches and in sizes from DN200 to DN400. In recent years the new urban area of Lusail has been rising out of the sea north of Qatars capital, Doha - 21 km² of urban landscape spread over five artificial islands with luxury flats, offices, golf courses, beaches and first class hotels. Dissing+Weitling - in co operation with COWI - is the architect behind the stunning design of two bridges which - with their clear reference to Qatars Q - have become a Lusail icon. Two enormous steel rings featuring 50 meters above the sea serve as the pylons for this eye catching suspension structure. The rings are constructed of high-strength steel, and in order not to break the circles the 28 meter wide bridge is divided in two and interconnected by steel cross beams.
