May 2013 - Largest order of MACOGA Expansion Joints for Iraq
MACOGA has been awarded a contract for supplying a number of 20 large size Lateral and Hinged Expansion Joints DN 3300 and 2 Dog Bone Turbine connecting units to the Erbil Independent Power Project in Iraq.
The Erbil Combined Cycle Power Project will be designed to work on two types of fuel, natural gas as the primary and diesel as the secondary source and will utilize the steam produced by the existing Erbil Gas Power Station. The Erbil Combined Cycle Power Plant shall be capable of being dispatched for any combination of base-load operation throughout its design service life. An Air Cooled Condenser (ACC) system will be used for the cooling system which will consist of two blocks each with approximately 40 cells. Two GE steam turbine generator sets will be used and the site will have a total of eigth HRSGs, each block containing four HRSGs.
The plant when converted into a combined cycle will have a total capacity of 1500 MW. The plant is located about 20 kms south of the city of Erbil, in Northern Iraq. Erbil Combined Cycle Power Project will be the first combined cycle power plant in Iraq and will provide approximately 25% of the power demand of the Kurdistan Region.
