MACOGA has successfully delivered a set of 5 Lateral and 5 Hinged Expansion Joints DN 2800 plus 4 Lateral units DN 3960 for the GWF Tracy Power Plant in California, US. The upgrading of the Tracy Peaker Plant from a “peaker” to a combined cycle facility will increase its electricity generation capacity from 170 MW to a maximum of 314 MW. The proposed upgrades are part of GWF’s continuing commitment to meet California’s growing energy demands, while being sensitive to air quality issues. The proposal includes a new emissions control system that, when compared to older plants, will emit 31 percent less green house gases for every megawatt of electricity generated. And it exceeds standards for best available control technology for NOx, VOC, PM-10, SO2 and CO. The proposed modifications will also include an Air Cooled Condenser as an alternative to using water to cool the steam condenser, thus eliminating the need for approximately 2,300 acre-feet/year of fresh water — which can instead be preserved for local use.
