Turbine Outlet Piping Expansion Joints for Geothermal Plant in Azores

MACOGA has successfully designed and manufactured a series of Universal Tied Expansion Joints (MFL Series) for a geothermal power plant located in the Azores, reinforcing its expertise in demanding renewable energy applications.

These units have been specifically engineered for turbine outlet piping, one of the most critical areas in geothermal power plants, where pressure, temperature, and continuous thermal cycling require highly reliable and robust solutions.

The scope includes several expansion joints in DN 1800 and DN 600, designed to operate under pressures up to 15 bar and temperatures reaching 168 °C, ensuring safe and efficient operation under demanding geothermal conditions.

Designed in accordance with EJMA standards and ASME Section VIII Division 1, and manufactured under strict quality controls, these expansion joints ensure long-term reliability and performance in geothermal service.

This project highlights MACOGA’s capability to deliver tailor-made expansion joint solutions for turbine systems in geothermal power plants, contributing to the efficiency and sustainability of renewable energy generation.
